HUAWEI devices come equipped with a system app that aims to prolong battery life by closing background apps. This app is part of the PowerGenie feature which automatically shuts down dormant apps to save energy and RAM space. While Android has its own methods for managing background apps, HUAWEI provides an additional app for this purpose. Some experts caution against removing this app and PowerGenie if you are experiencing issues with background apps closing on your HUAWEI device. Removing this app could disrupt the hibernation function of apps and lead to increased battery usage. Guides recommend uninstalling the app because the default PowerGenie and HwAps settings only allow you to protect selected apps from being closed in the background. If the app you wish to protect is not on this whitelist, the only option is to uninstall both APKs. However, this can result in unnecessary battery draining and may require reinstalling the HwAps APK to restore proper functionality.
